O PRR Cabin Car Decals

This set was produced to introduce an accurately correct set for these classes, which hadn't been done by previous manufacturers.

In 1903 the PRR made a major design change in their cabin car fleet by introducing the ND, which had a steel underframe. This class was larger and stronger than all previously made Cabin Cars. In 1916, a few of these ND's received a redesigned underframe allowing for the installing of two four-wheel trucks, creating the NDa class. In 1914 the N6a and N6b classes were introduced. During WW2 the NX23 class was created by converting X23 boxcars into cabin cars. All of these classes were used extensively across the system through the mid-1950's, when due to age; some of the cars got transferred to MOW service or were scrapped.

In 1914 the PRR produced the world’s first steel cabin car by introducing the N5. Modifications of existing N5 cabin cars created the N5a class. In 1941, the PRR built new N5b class cabin cars, with improved safety features including collision posts. In 1942, the PRR introduced the N5c. The last major design of PRR cabin cars to be built was the N8 class introduced in 1950. All of these classes were used extensively across the system through to the end of the PRR.

This sheet includes enough lettering for the above mentioned classes in their Pre-1954 scheme before they were repainted with the Shadow Keystone monogram. The sheet includes enough data for doing 1 car, with the classes ND, NDa, N6a, N6b, NX23, N5, N5a, N5b, N5c, and N8. Also included is lettering doing REA express N5’s and the “Buy War Bonds” slogan applied to cars during WW2.

Decals are illustrated in black for clarification of what's on the decal sheet. Actual decals are white for applying to a freight car colored cabin car.
