HO Chessie System Western Maryland 66 Ton "Stretched" Hopper Decals

HO Chessie System Western Maryland 66 Ton "Stretched" Hopper Decals

$7.00

The ever resourceful Western Maryland started rebuilding older fishbelly sided 2-bay hoppers in the mid-1960’s by stretching them, increasing their capacity to 66 tons. These were rebuilt at their Elkins Shops from H8, H9, and H10 hoppers. The hoppers became classes H21, H22, H23, H24, H27 and H28 classes built from 1964-1967. Initially the hoppers were painted in the Speed Lettering scheme, but once the full effects of the Chessie System absorbing the Western Maryland the hoppers started getting repainted black with Chessie lettering. The hoppers were numbered in a solid block from 17001 through 18900. By 1985 most of these cars had been retired due to age and capacity.

This sheet has enough data to do 2 cars, one car in the 17XXX series and one car in the 18XXX series. The WM 66 Ton 2-Bay Hopper has been produced as a 3D printed kit by Plate C Model Prototypes/3D Central Trains.

A thank you for assistance in creating this set is extended to Adam Chilcote, owner of Plate C Model Prototypes.

This decal set is a CSX LIcensed Product.
