HO PRR FD1 Flatcar Decals

HO PRR FD1 Flatcar Decals

$5.00

The PRR built nine massive depressed center flatcars which rode on four four-wheel trucks based on a GSC design. The cars had a 150 Ton capacity and were built from August thru October in 1951. The cars were built in a single series from 470236 to 470244. Due to their use in specialized service moving heavy loads, the entire fleet made it into Penn Central with most cars lasting into Conrail beyond 1980.

This sheet has enough data to do 1 car. The road number is done as a “prefix” so you can choose your own number. There are three different reweigh locations (P57: Altoona, P205: Pitcairn, P330: New Castle) with multiple reweigh dates into the early 1960’s.

The FD1 has been imported by Railworks, Ltd. in Brass and is available as a 3D printed kit by Erik Ernest at earnesttrains.com or on Ebay as bajadezert.

For painting this flatcar in this scheme, the entire car including underbody is to be painted in Freight Car Color. The trucks are painted black.

For references in regard to the PRR's FD1 Class Flatcar fleet please consult the Pennsylvania Railroad Technical & Historical Society's publication, Pennsylvania Railroad Flat Cars, Revenue & Work Equipment, 1881-1968, by Al Buchan and Elden Gatwood and Volumes 1-3 of the PRR Color Guide.

Thanks for assistance in the creation of this decal set goes to Jerry Britton.
